Glogster

Glogster is an app that you can use to create multimedia posters and to capture, combine and share photos, text, videos and more on one interactive page. In this app you can mix all kinds of media on one page and it lets you add pictures, videos, texts, and documents to create presentations, reports, class projects and many more. I think this app has advantages and disadvantages, so the benefits of this app that it allows you to learn and develop your technology skills, easy to use and edit with, search glogs and embed videos and other links directly into the glog. What I don’t like in this app when I used is that there was no spell check, difficult to change the color of the text and easily become distracted by the graphics & sounds instead of focusing on the main point of the project.

Digital Storytelling

My digital storytelling is about Digital Health and Wellness which is a branch of digital citizenship. I choose this element because I think that we are as teachers, parents, or leaders have to aware our students to use technology safely and appropriately and teach them how to make the balance between their real life and virtual digital world. Also, to keep students away from the danger of physical and psychological harms.

Here is my story graphic organizer.

Kidblog

Kidblog is a blogging platform intended primarily for kids, moderated by teachers, librarians, or school administrators. The site requires an adult to create a classroom or school account with only an email address. students aren't required to provide an email address to use the service and they can get connected by using only some general information. Teacher's name and the class name (as created by the teacher) are all they need. Kidblog has various privacy levels which allow students to access an audience that could include peers, parents, other teachers, and even the public. Kidblog has a strong social media presence so that the students can use it to share ideas, interact with others through the social media. The students can post written work, pictures, videos and much more. I think it is a wonderful teaching tool because it allows students to post what they feel and it gives the teachers piece of mind knowing that what they post is for the class only. It is also a great place for teachers have an online discussion in a safe space and it’s easy to pose a question and have students respond. I really like this tool and I think it will benefit ELL students because it helps them to build their language skills and creativity. I hope to use it in my classroom in future.

Piccassohead

Piccassohead, a digital tool that allows users to create their own masterpieces using famous features drawn by Picasso, is a creation of award-winning digital agency. In addition, it’s being a popular tool used by students and teachers internationally to learn about art and promote creativity. I think it would be more beneficial when it used in classrooms where teachers need to talk about personal lives of famous people. For example, history teachers can use it to draw the characters of historical figures such as the presidents of united states or ask the students to draw the characters by making them in groups so each group can draw different characters with a brief summary of their lives. That will help the students to cooperate and share their idea and skills together. This app is free, very simple and easy to use. You can start just by clicking on the icon “create” and then it will pop up options such as the face, nose, lip and hear. Then, start to create your own and you can put your signature too when you finished yours. I have tried it and created my picture to explore how this app can be used. I named my picture “sadness” and, if you are interested, you can search it by using this name.
